Time for a New Category?

September 25th, 2007 by WithaK

We are at Baby Alert Level At The Damn Hospital.

We’ve already been admitted and we’re bored with the waiting.
It turns out they have a dvd player, so I came home to pickup a few movies.

Be prepared to congratulate us soon!

Oh Yeah!

Kool-Aid points are back! In a small, small way!.
You probably didn’t even realize they were gone, did you?

I was always a big fan of Kool-Aid as a kid, as is evident by the completely awesome Kool-Aid Walkie-Talkies I still have from when I was 11. I picked the habit back up in college when they came out with the no sugar required varities and have been saving the points ever since.

A few months back, after Hayden was hooked on the lemonade, we checked the Kool-Aid site to see what sweet swag we could trade our points in for, but found that the points system had been scrapped.

We were crushed, but we held onto our tupperware container full of points in the vain hope that one day Kraft Foods would bow to the pressure of late twenty somethings trying to recapture their youth pass on their childhood memories.

Though the swag pickings are pretty slim, I doubt there’s much hope of a wider selection as kids today are probably too busy with their iPods and their Justin Timberlakes or whatever to care about a morbidly obese pitcher with no respect for proper ingression or masonry…

Still, we’re just 3 boxes away from a beach towel!

Oh Yeah!

Wriststrong

September 24th, 2007 by WithaK

After weeks of waiting the wriststrong bracelets arrived.

Thank you Mr. Colbert for calling attention to wrist violence and wrist related injuries.

It turns out that I’m unable to pose for a picture with it without looking like a douche, so you only get the arm with the relevant scars.

Eebs and Shuller, you’ll get yours shortly.

This morning as we were putting our shoes on Hayden decided to go with socks and sandals.

I informed him that that was a bit of a fashion faux pas, which drove him to cry to mommy that “It’s not a fashion faux pas.”

I guess I shouldn’t tell him that his shirt doesn’t work after Labor Day…

Geeky Excitement

September 19th, 2007 by WithaK

Various geeky media related items that have me excited:

I’ve been enjoying the Buffy Season 8 comics, so I’m pleased to see the beginning of the Angel Season 6 comic series

Force Unleashed

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is coming to the Wii! Not some lame Lego Star Wars port to the Wii, but an actual “you get to swing a lightsaber” game!

Smash Brothers for the Wii getting online play. I got bored with the Smash Brothers for Gamecube not because it wasn’t an awesome game, but because no one wanted to play with me.

I predict a very good holiday season for Nintendo.

Also, I purchased my first shirt.woot.
Bask in the awesomeness:

zombie hunting

I would wear this to Resident Evil: Extinction except it would seem that none of my friends hate zombies or love Milla Jovovich enough to ignore the sins of the previous two movies (as well as the inevitable sins of this one).

Also, Halo 3 is coming out next week.
I don’t actually have a 360 yet, so I can’t play it, but if you can’t find me, I’m probably at the local video game store, licking the game boxes.

Everything’s Okay Pt. 2

September 18th, 2007 by WithaK

Spoilers: Everyone’s okay.

Brie got into a little fender bender today. She’s absolutely fine and so is the baby, but we had a bit of a scare.

By the time I got there it had been awhile since she felt Baby2.0 move, so the doctors told us to go to the hospital’s maternity ward.
We went and they hooked her up to some machines that measure contractions and baby heart rate. Preliminary tests looked good but they held her for another two hours to make sure.

Baby got bored about halfway through and started kicking and dancing plenty to let us know that he was alright.

Then we all went home and got pizza. The End.
I’m sure I could make this more entertaining, but it’s been a long day and I’m tired.

In short:

  • A little scary, but not frightening.
  • Hayden was slightly confused why mommy was at the hospital and the baby wasn’t here.
  • There was no ambulance or emergency room involved, which is a step up (though one more punch in my card and the next visit is free!)
  • This basically cements the whole “just 2 kids” thing. I know our sample is low, but we’re 2 for 2 on babies and car accidents.
  • The car isn’t in bad shape, though the frame might be bent and then we get to have to get rid of it.
  • I bet I can get our insurance rate lowered if one of us gets fixed.
